Design Step 5
October 23 - October 30
This design step was used to create a design defense presentation. The reason behind this was to create a way to give our purpose and plan out to potential funders in order to further our product and get it closer to the market. The presentation had our problem definition, design requirements, alternative concepts that weren't chosen, the final design with all details and components explained, and a summary of our products purpose. Our presentation also had to answer four main questions: How did the team adhere to the engineering design process, How does the final concept work, What levels of risk are associated with the design, and Do the students appear to be teaming effectively? We also recorded an oral presentation of this to send to a jury that would grade how well we executed our project. The presentation is at right.

Reflection
This design step went relatively smooth. A peak was the time management. We got this presentation done within the week and completed all parts in class. Another peak was our division of work. We were able to divide every third slide so that everyone got an equal share of work. A pit was during the oral presentation. Since we weren't allowed to meet, we had to record our audio separately and try to splice it all together over a recording of the slide show. This was quite difficult. Another pit was our communication. Since we divided at the beginning, we didn't communicate while creating the slide show so our end result was a little choppy. Overall, I liked this step and it greatly prepared us for the final design step.
