Design Step 4
October 2 - October 23
This design step consisted of three parts. Part One: Plan and Set Up Detailed Experiments. Part Two: Run the Experiments/Tests. Part Three: Complete the Lab Report. We created the two following papers; our testing plans and our lab report. In the Test Planning, we have our microneedle design to give a reference to what we're testing, our driving questions and hypothesis, as well as the materials and procedure for the two experiments. In the lab report, we have the abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion and conclusion. We conducted these tests in order to refine our design and create a product that answers our project problem the best.
Reflection
A peak in this design step was our time management. We were able to complete each step in the given week in class and turn in all components on time. Another peak was our cooperation. We helped each other through the process over zoom and gave insight and tips to the person conducting each experiment at home. A pit was the division of work. we only had two experiments with three team members, so one team member wasn't given a dedicated job. Another pit was access to materials. Since we were at home instead of school, we had to create tests with materials we could find in our homes. This led to our tests being more conceptual than result bearing. Overall, I loved this step of the project and enjoyed being able to conduct experiments again. |

Driving question- a question of a broader subject that allows investigation Hypothesis- a proposed explanation made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point to further investigation Lab Report- a write-up to describe and analyse a laboratory experiment that explores a scientific concept Abstract- An overview of our process and results placed at the very beginning of our lab report Introduction- background information of our purpose and what we will be testing in the following lab Method- the experiments materials, procedure, and pictures Result- a table or graph showing the outcome of the tests Discussion- an analysis of the result and what they mean in response to our driving questions Conclusion- explains how well our tests went and if/how we can improve them for future use |
